Why I would make a great Green candidate
I would make an excellent candidate and have the mix of skills, experience and pure passion to help increase the party vote in this election.
Firstly, I have a vision. I am optimistic that we can make Aotearoa's economy sustainable and our society fair. I believe we can really respect and value the Treaty and Maori as Tangata Whenua. I know our schools and universities can be more than factories of future workers and our young people more than just stereotyped 'hoodlums' - they want to contribute to society in a meaningful and engaging way. I feel priviledged to work on climate change issues for a job and whilst time is short, I know with the right leadership and ambition I can be part of making the world safer for my young son.
I am young. I acknowledge this has a few disadvantages - I don't have the experience of Sue Bradford nor the knowledge of Jeanette, but it is equally an advantage, especially considering our party is older than the parliamentary average - I would bring a different and valuable viewpoint to the Greens that only a member of a different generation can, a whole pile of youthful energy, and I would help the Greens go into the future with confidence.
I am an environmentalist and for me, finding solutions to the ecological mess we have created is imperative and I believe can also make our lives and communities richer. I am committed to working towards those solutions.
I am a leader that can bring people with me. I am a confident and articulate public speaker, and would represent the Greens well in debates and in public. I am an experienced campaigner, with a demonstrated track record in building teams and facilitating action. I am web savy and experienced in using new media to communicate a message and I am sure this will increasingly become an essential aspect of an MPs job description. I am smart and educated and love researching issues, and finding solutions. I always try to build bridges and deal with conflict positively but I also believe in my, and our Green, values and stick up for them.
